A plant or flower that usually has showy 3-petaled flowers with the middle petal enlarged into a lip and differing from the others in shape or colour. While we think of orchids as exotic flowers, there are many orchids that grow wild. Orchids are highly prized and unique and, lore has it, that to carry any orchids brings luck in love.
